About JJ Duo

John Colquhoun is a seasoned musician who once thrived in the vibrant music scenes of Los Angeles and Hawaii before moving to Australia and continuing his music career in Sydney and Melbourne. He performed in various bands across these cultural hotspots. His promising career was suddenly interrupted by the diagnosis of a brain tumour while living in Australia, leading to a seven year battle that forced him to step away from music. Against all odds, John gradually regained his strength and rediscovered his passion, eventually finding a new purpose in helping other musicians learn to play guitar.

Julie Torrance began singing as a child, with her first public performance at just seven years old. She performed on Pot Of Gold talent show on TV at age 12. She quickly became immersed in the music scene and thrived creatively. Life presented many challenges, especially as a single mother of four, which meant taking a break from her music to concentrate on family. Her deep love for singing never wavered. At age 33 she released an album. Another significant accomplishment was her appearance in the Lord Mayors Gala Event in Brisbane which gave her great accolades.

While in Redcliffe Queensland Julie met fellow musician John Colquhoun who now lives in Redcliffe. Their shared passion for music sparked not only a friendship but also a powerful artistic collaboration.

Their mutual musical interests led to the formation of JJDuo Queensland, a partnership that has brought their talents to various venues.
